Finally we have a list of most of the new breakthrough drugs for PCa over the past (2) or (3) years. This list is from Dr. M. Glode Professor, University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus. Check out his blog Dr. Glode’s blog. Here is the list:
Provenge, Zytiga, Xtandi, Radium 223, Denosumab, cabazitaxel, and in the pipeline phase III, cabozantinib (already approved for medullary carcinoma of thyroid). Further pipeline drugs include Prostvac, ARN 509, TAK 001, possibly ipilimumab, OGX-011, and capesaris (among many others).
His blog also explains the latest just released drug called Radium 223, (liquid Radiation infusion). I’m personally in my final infusion (1 per month for 6 months) of Radium 223 and it has helped my bone Met pains. I have also had Provenge, Zytiga, Xtandi and Denosumab. ( Denosumab is a fully human monoclonal antibody for the treatment of osteoporosis, treatment-induced bone loss, bone metastases, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple myeloma, similar to Zometa).
A smart move is to discuss with your Doctor what new PCa drug would be best for you!
